Công ty cổ phần Đầu tư Phát triển Đô thị và Khu Công nghiệp Sông Đà (SJS) thông báo lùi thời gian thanh toán cổ tức tiền mặt năm 2016 và 2017 thêm 1 năm, đến cuối tháng 12.2021 thay vì cuối năm nay như thông báo trước đó. Trên thực tế, SJS đã nhiều lần thông báo thay đổi thời gian thanh toán cổ tức bằng tiền mặt năm 2016 và năm 2017 và thậm chí đã từng bị Sở Giao dịch chứng khoán TP.HCM gửi văn bản nhắc nhở. Công ty này xin gia hạn nhiều lần với lý do tình hình tài chính còn khó khăn, chưa có đủ nguồn tiền để thanh toán cổ tức bằng tiền mặt. Như vậy tổng cộng, cổ tức của 4 năm từ 2016 – 2019 SJS còn nợ cổ đông lên đến 441 tỉ đồng, trong đó cổ tức năm 2016 là 99 tỉ đồng, năm 2017, 2018 và 2019 cùng số tiền 114 tỉ đồng. Riêng năm 2020, công ty này cũng dự kiến chia cổ tức tiền mặt với tỷ lệ 5-10%.
SJS không phải là cá biệt trên thị trường chứng khoán. Công ty cổ phần Đầu tư sản xuất và thương mại HCD (HCD) cũng liên tục lùi ngày chi trả cổ tức đợt 2 năm 2017 và mới nhất là đến ngày 18.12 năm nay so với thời gian thông báo gần nhất trước đó là tháng 4 năm nay. Trái ngược với những lần trước, đợt xin lùi này của HCD được nêu là do tình hình dịch Covid-19 kéo dài đã khiến khả năng thu hồi công nợ chậm trong khi công ty vẫn cần một lượng vốn để duy trì sản xuất kinh doanh. Vì vậy HCD cho rằng cần thêm thời gian để thu xếp nguồn tiền chi trả cổ tức.
Hay trường hợp của Công ty cổ phần Đầu tư và phát triển du lịch Vinaconex (VCR) đã 9 lần thông báo lùi thời gian trả cổ tức năm 2010 đến tận tháng 3.2021 do công ty vẫn chưa thu xếp được nguồn tiền. Cổ đông chờ mòn mỏi đến gần 10 năm trời nhưng chưa biết khi nào sẽ nhận được cổ tức vì VCR liên tục bị thua lỗ từ năm 2017 đến nay. Thậm chí, giữ kỷ lục về số lần lùi thời hạn thanh toán cổ tức là Công ty cổ phần Kỹ thuật điện Sông Đà (SDE) đã có 15 lần thay đổi thời gian trả cổ tức năm 2011 và 2012 đến tận tháng 6.2022. SDE cho hay nguồn tiền chi trả cổ tức phụ thuộc vào nguồn thanh toán khối lượng xây lắp từ phía chủ đầu tư nhưng việc này chậm hơn dự kiến. Hàng loạt công ty khác như Công ty cổ phần Sông Đà 6 (SD6), Công ty cổ phần Xây dựng số 5 (VC5)… cũng có 5-7 lần xin gia hạn trả cổ tức.
Có nhiều nguyên nhân khác nhau được các doanh nghiệp đưa ra để lý giải cho việc trì hoãn, nhưng đều là “chưa có tiền” dù đã được cổ đông thông qua. Trong khi đó, vào ngày chốt danh sách cổ đông nhận cổ tức thì giá cổ phiếu đã được điều chỉnh nhưng tiền cổ đông lại không nhận được. Điều này đã khiến nhiều nhà đầu tư mất tiền và mất luôn niềm tin vào doanh nghiệp, khiến thị giá các cổ phiếu như SDE, VC5… chỉ xoay quanh 1.000 đồng.
